Project description
The aim of the project is to conduct research on the image of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth presented in European geographical and historical works written by intellectuals in the 18th century, and to examine the reception of such approaches in early Polish geographical thought and historiography from the beginning of the Saxon era in 1697 to the fall of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1795. The research will examine works from France, the then German Reich, Italy, and England, which served as inspiration and models for early Polish authors. Research will also be conducted on the reception of the image of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth as reflected in foreign representations in early Polish writing.
